Under the same ro

Arnav carried Avni upstairs in complete silence.

Not because he wanted to.

Because it was easier than watching her stumble again.

Reaching his room, he carefully laid her on the bed before stepping back.

Avni slowly looked around.

The room was spacious yet simple despite its luxury. Dark wooden furniture, neatly arranged bookshelves, a large glass window overlooking the city, and everything placed with perfect discipline.

Nothing was out of place.

Just like the man who owned it.

Arnav opened the bedside drawer, took out the medicines prescribed by the doctor, poured a glass of water, and held them toward her.

"Medicine."

She accepted them without question.

After taking the tablets, she returned the glass with both hands.

"Thank you..."

He simply nodded.

"Sleep."

With that, he walked to the sofa near the window, opened his laptop, and immersed himself in work.

The room fell quiet.

Avni lay on the bed but sleep refused to come immediately.

Her curious eyes wandered around every corner of the room.

After a few moments, she softly called,

"...Suniye."

"Hm."

His eyes never left the laptop.

She hesitated.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Ask."

She looked around once again before smiling sheepishly.

"Are you... some kind of king?"

His fingers paused over the keyboard.

For the first time, he looked at her.

"What makes you think that?"

She gestured around the room.

"This doesn't look like a house."

"It feels like a palace."

Her innocent eyes sparkled with curiosity.

"Is this... really our home?"

"Hm."

That was all he said.

A smile slowly spread across her face.

"So beautiful..."

She whispered to herself.

The medicine was beginning to take effect.

Her eyelids grew heavy.

Just before drifting into sleep, she murmured almost unconsciously,

"...Then my home is wherever you are."

Silence.

Arnav's fingers stopped above the keyboard.

He didn't look at the laptop anymore.

His gaze slowly shifted toward the sleeping girl.

Her breathing had already become slow and steady.

She had no idea she had spoken aloud.

After a long moment...

He quietly resumed typing.

As if those words had never reached him.

---

A gentle knock sounded on the door.

Before Arnav could respond, Revati entered along with the family doctor.

Her voice instinctively softened.

"Has she fallen asleep?"

Arnav gave a small nod.

The doctor carefully examined Avni without disturbing her sleep.

He checked her pulse, blood pressure, pupils, and the healing wound on her forehead.

A few minutes later, he stepped away from the bed.

"She's doing well."

Revati let out a relieved breath.

"Will she recover completely, Doctor?"

"Physically, yes."

He smiled reassuringly.

"But emotionally... she'll need patience."

He turned toward Arnav.

"Her mind has accepted one thing as reality."

"She believes you're her husband."

"For her, that belief represents safety."

"If she's suddenly told otherwise or pressured to remember before she's ready, the emotional stress could seriously affect her recovery."

Revati listened carefully.

"So... we simply let her heal?"

"Exactly."

The doctor nodded.

"Don't question her."

"Don't force memories."

"Give her a peaceful environment."

"Her memories may return naturally."

"And until then..."

"Let her feel secure."

Revati looked toward her grandson.

"You heard the doctor."

"I did."

His voice remained calm.

The doctor smiled knowingly.

"Mr. Rajvanshi..."

"She isn't asking for promises."

"Only for a place where she doesn't have to be afraid."

With that, the doctor excused himself.

---

Revati slowly walked toward the sleeping Avni.

She lovingly adjusted the blanket over her.

Poor child...

She had entered this house with nothing.

Not even her memories.

Turning toward Arnav, Revati spoke gently,

"I know this situation isn't easy for you."

"I also know you never wanted anyone to enter your life like this."

She paused.

"But sometimes..."

"God sends people into our lives when they need us the most."

Arnav remained silent.

Revati smiled faintly.

"I'm not asking you to accept her as your wife."

"I only want you to remember..."

"Until she recovers..."

"She is this family's responsibility."

Their eyes met.

For a moment...

Neither spoke.

Finally, Arnav broke the silence.

"I'll do what's necessary."

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

Revati understood exactly what he meant.

For Arnav...

Those six words were already more than most people ever received from him.

She quietly left the room.

Once again...

Silence returned.

Arnav closed the laptop.

His eyes drifted toward the bed.

Avni was sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of the storm she had brought into his carefully ordered life.

He looked at her for a brief moment.

"This changes nothing."

The words were barely above a whisper.

As he turned to leave the bedside...

His hand paused.

Without thinking, he reached for the bedside lamp and left its warm light on before walking toward the sofa.

Only after lying down did he realize what he had done.

He stared at the ceiling.

Annoyed with himself.

Because somewhere between responsibility...

And indifference...

A habit had quietly begun.

One he had never intended to form.
